Evan Mazunik is a composer/keyboardist who plays progressive jazz and creative music throughout the US and Europe. Raised on the prairies of Iowa and based in Queens, NY, he has performed at venues devoted to experimental improvised music such as Roulette, The Stone, HERE, Barbes, and Galapagos. Mazunik has worked with a broad range of contemporary artists, including Anthony Braxton, Walter Thompson, Carla Bley, Robin Eubanks, Danielson, and Sufjan Stevens. Fluent in Soundpainting, a sign language for real-time composition, Mazunik is composer/director for ZAHA, his experimental chamber ensemble. He was a winner of the 2010 Con Ed Musicians’ Residency Composition Program and was featured in a documentary by Jesse Kamras for the Finnish Broadcasting Company.
