May 6: ZAHA in Harlem at the Shrine

You’re invited to my upcoming show with ZAHA at the Shrine in Harlem on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at 8:00pm. We’ll be opening for Eric Plaks’ Shrine Big Band. I’m looking forward to our premiere performance up in Harlem — many thanks to Donna Walker-Kuhne for her help in planning the publicity for this event.

We’ll be celebrating the release of our new EP, “The Sedge and the Bee,” on Collective Recordings. We recorded this last summer at Butler Recording Studios in Brooklyn before a live studio audience. We were flying without a net — recording live, audience in attendance, with my friend Jean-Baptiste Charlot from Bordeaux sitting in on sax for the first time. Oh, and we had no sheet music or preset compositions — we just PLAYED while tape rolled (ok, it was a digital recording, but you get the idea). I was so thrilled by everyone’s performance on this record — it captured a special evening and I’m happy to share it with you!

As a special reward, we’ll give out an exclusive download code for all those in attendance to preview the “The Sedge and the Bee” as a digital souvenir of the evening. Come on out!
