INTERZONE MUSIC OPENS ITS DEBUT SEASON AT WMP CONCERT HALL ON NOVEMBER 18

Interzone Music, directed by Gil Selinger, opens its debut season on Friday, Nov 18, 2011, 7:30pm at WMP Concert Hall located at 31 East 28th Street, New York, NY (between Park and Madison Ave). This inaugural performance of New York’s premiere improvised classical music series celebrates the CD release of “White Barn Duets,” an album featuring the classical improvisation of cellist Gil Selinger and pianist Evan Mazunik. This recording of fully-improvised classical music reclaims the rich tradition of the composer/performer within classical music and revives the history of private chamber music concerts where musicians like Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, and Chopin all presented their original improvisations in intimate settings.

Interzone Music will feature some of New York’s finest classical musicians as they create and embellish their musical ideas in the moment for audiences. Performers on the series include Lev “Ljova” Zhurbin, Olivia De Prato, Jay Rozen, and Walter Thompson with his Soundpainting String Quartet.
