Crocheting: Infinity Scarves

February 13th, 2011 · Comments · Artisan Studios, Bliss Street Studios, Studio Store

Late this past summer, I decided to start crocheting again, after a hiatus of about 20 years. I had stopped crocheting because, unlike my sister, who could crochet almost effortlessly for hours on end, making beautiful blankets, I crocheted slowly and laboriously and, quite frankly, it made me tense–-I’d get so focused on trying to […]

August 16th, 2010 · Comments · Artisan Studios, Visual Studios

This weekend we hopped on the MetroNorth Hudson line and rolled on up to Dia:Beacon to get an eyeful of contemporary visual art.  I was particularly moved by Joseph Beuys’ mixed-media sculptural environment/installation, Aus Berlin: Neues vom Kojoten (From Berlin: News from the Coyote).  Beuys is a creative inspiration to me, and I was thrilled […]

Mostly Fish – No Mammals: 2009 Calendar

January 16th, 2009 · Comments · Artisan Studios, Studio Store

For this calendar, I took illustrations from an old book (Trousset encyclopedia, Paris 1886 – 1891), cropped and resized them, and added them to a calendar template. I then printed on cream colored cover-stock paper, and cut them to size. I’m happy with the results. They fit in CD jewel cases (take the case apart […]
